Solarvest JV with Brookfield to Deliver 1.5GW Clean Energy in Malaysia

In a landmark move for Malaysia’s renewable energy sector, Brookfield Asset Management, a global investment powerhouse, has entered into a Joint Investment Framework Agreement with homegrown clean energy player Solarvest Holdings Bhd.

The partnership will see both parties develop, construct, and operate at least 1.5 GW of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects across Malaysia.


Among the projects that will be undertaking are:
  1. Hybrid solar photovoltaic power plant and battery energy storage system (BESS),
  2. Solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant, or
  3. Standalone BESS

Are Malaysians Willing to Pay for Sustainable Products?

According to the Malaysia Consumer Trend Report 2025, a nationwide survey of 500 Malaysians has found that 91% of consumers are open to the idea of purchasing sustainable products.


However, this intention is heavily tempered by price sensitivity, with the majority only willing to pay less than 10% more, revealing a significant gap between eco-conscious desires and purchasing reality.

This brings us to the pivotal question: "While people may care about the planet, are they willing to pay more to protect it?" 👀💢

ShopeePay Partners with Allianz General to Offer Affordable Insurance from just RM20

ShopeePay today announced the introduction of two new Personal Accident insurance plans in partnership with Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad, aimed at making protection more accessible and affordable for Malaysians under its ‘Simple Finance for All’ mission.


Priced at RM50 and RM75 respectively, the plans are eligible for the government’s Perlindungan Tenang Voucher (PTV) Programme, which provides a RM30 subsidy to up to two million Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah recipients, as announced under the National Budget 2025.

This means eligible customers can enjoy comprehensive coverage from as low as RM20 (excluding SST).
