Well, during Tun Mahathir's 2nd stint as our PM in 2018, he set up "council of elders" comprising 5 experts from various fields whom will serve as advisors to the then government in order to rectify the then 'troubled' economic problems of the country. Now, our PMX DS Anwar Ibrahim are doing the same by setting up the Policy Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister (PMAC) comprising 4 experts, and it was headed by one of the expert from the previous "council of elders" 👀👌
Tan Sri Hassan Marican (Head of PMAC 🙋)
- Member of the "council of elders" set up by Tun Mahathir
- Chairman of the Special Advisory Body to the Minister of Finance Anwar Ibrahim and Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan since February 2023
- Former Petronas CEO who oversees the national oil giant which is one of the main income sources for the country. (1995 - 2010)
- Chairman of SembCorp Industries Ltd (since 2010) & SembCorp Marine Ltd (since 2014).
- Director of ConocoPhillips (2013 - 2015)
- Chairman of Singapore Power, Pavilion Energy, Pavilion Gas and Lan Ting Holdings and holds directorships in Sarawak Energy, Lambert Energy Advisory and MH Marican Advisory.
- He is also a senior international advisor at Temasek International Advisors.
Dr Yeah Kim Leng
- Professor of Economics and Director of Economic Studies Programme at Jeffrey Cheah Institute on Southeast Asia (JCI) at Sunway University
- Currently the Deputy President of the Malaysian Economic Association
- Former group chief economist at the country’s leading domestic credit rating agency RAM Holdings Bhd
- Former senior analyst at the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia
- Member of the Advisory Committee to the Finance Minister and the Deputy President of the Malaysian Economic Association
- Appointed as external members of the BNM's monetary policy committee (MPC) in 2019
Dr Nungsari Ahmad Radhi
- An economist and is presently is a member of the Advisory Committee to the Finance Minister (ACFIN)
- A member of the Board of Directors of Bank Negara Malaysia
- Appointed as trustee of Khazanah Research Institute on 26 December 2023
- Appointed as trustee of Yayasan Rahimah Yusof, a private charitable foundation
- Former Executive Chairman of the Malaysian Aviation Commission
- His interests revolves around the microeconomics of policy making and has been a contributing columnist for TheEdge since 2000
Dato’ Ahmad Fuad Md Ali
- Currently the Executive Chairman of FPSO Ventures Sendirian Berhad, an affiliate of Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC)
- Has extensive experience in the fields of finance, accounting, auditing and consultancy
- Former Executive Chairman of Malaysian Plantations Berhad
- Former Deputy Chairman of Bumi Armada Berhad
