Has anyone come across this kind of recruitment before? The modus operandi has changed from the earlier scam version of a similar task job offer.
Let us go into details below:
Version #1:
~ task is to increase the exposure rate for e-commerce merchants
~ victim to complete a trial task as part of the hiring process
~ by adding the items to her cart and making payment to the merchants
~ then, within 10-15 minutes, the “merchant will refund (the amount you had paid) with a 10% commission" 💞
~ then, the victim was given subsequent tasks, each worth RM495, RM 1,799, RM3,339.40 and RM7,000 (but, you have to pay first 💣💣💣)
~ then, you know lol... You paid the amount, but you can't get back your money...

~ scammer was to impersonate Primal Malaysia, which is a legit digital marketing agency
~ Primal Malaysia had even come up with an article alerting the public on this matter 👍
Version #2:
~ no more part time job + Shopee, now scammers are using LinkedIn
~ similar tactic but no more e-commerce, now they use like, share, follow, influencers account and Youtube channel
~ complete one task and get $$$
~ repeat their task when they asked you to do so, with a time limit to complete certain task too

~ first time, they will pay you (to gain your trust 💓)
~ congrats, you have completed the "onboarding process"
~ they now said you must complete all the tasks, or else, you will be terminated in 2 days
~ scammer will send you a Telegram link to join, in order to get more tasks
~ special tasks (with deposit required from you 👀💭)

Red Flags 🔴 Spot checks: 👀
- I don't put my contact number on LinkedIn / I don't even have a LinkedIn account
- I am not looking for a job
- Who the hell will WhatsApp me on weekends and especially during night time for hiring?
- What kind of job will pay you simply to like, share, follow, social media / Youtube channels?
- If really does, the company can easily employ work-from-home staff to do it by paying them a fixed monthly salary RM2,000. For sure, people will be queuing to apply lah. No need to find part-timers and pay them up to RM10,000. Lol.
